Archive for January, 2010

You didn’t think he got all those hats for just modeling alone, did you? There is plenty more where that came from, Captain. Keep at it!

The thorn is a little large. Okay, really large. This was the only one on hand that was small enough for Hito to wear. I have several smaller thorns that need to drilled. I just have to bring home the bit (on my fancy new cordless dremel:3). I honestly just wanted to see it photographed… (and to get another excuse to photograph Hito… like I need one)

Still preparing for the convention. Had a few issues with both, silk screening and sewing these past few weeks but ever thing worked out in the end (Kristi I have photos and an email to send you tomorrow afternoon).

I’ve also been busy making Puki hats. I was up till 3 last night cutting out Totoro eyes while waiting for a friend to log on to Aim. Not doing that again. I’m just too exhausted. I wound up sleeping late this morning and not getting as much done as I had wanted to. Luckily have a few hats ready to put up for sale on DOA this week, so look out for a sales post. I have a few Totoro, grey and white. As well as a few helmets (with chin straps:p). I’m just testing the waters, so to speak, before I decide to make anymore for Katsu.

Honey Locust Thorn, silver, Swarovski crystal

This is rather on the large size but I wanted to be able to see it in the photo. I’m thinking that maybe this larger thorn is more suited to be a doll sized hair stick. I’m going to leave a few plain but lightly sanded and polished. There are several that have aged, that have an ash or tree bark look to them. They were inspired by shawl pins. It was suggested by a non doll person that they would look lovely on the sweaters. I thought “why not?”

Just a quick one today. To my surprise Hito’s eyes came in this evening. This is my first pair of Mystics and I have to say that they are eight times lovelier in person than in the photos on the site. As soon as I got home I put them in. The biggest difference up close, is that they sit right up to the the eye wells (not back like his last pair). Since Hito’s eyes are quite narrow, high domes simply do not work sadly. This allows me to move them around more, giving him a little more emotion.

You honestly can not see the rich color in the photo above since the eyes themselves are dark and I’m just poo with a camera, but look at the whites in his eyes. They gleam. This has made my day. And just in time for the local meet.

If I didn’t tell you before that I <3’ed you Hito, I’m telling you now. I <3 Hito.

I’m playing with honey locust thorns this evening. Nasty little buggers.

The Vamps announced that there will be a new album this summer and a world tour this fall. I just thought you would want to know;P

Btw, I received an email today about doing a gallery show at a local gallery.

Starting this week I’m going to try and post a doll photo every monday. I can post on other days as well but monday is a must… I hope at least.

I can not wait for Hito’s eyes to come in from Mystic (I’m not happy with the eyes he’s currently using). The GO leader for the order said that the package was sent back due to the fact that her phone number wasn’t on the package lableO_o. I’m thinking they should be here this week or next. It’s been several months since the order was sent in.

Trying to figure out what little goodies to give out with commission. I love getting little gifts when I buy handmade goodies. I know I’m not the only (besides I am such a theme and package whore… it’s true and I’m not ashamed to admit it). I’ve decided on going with these little acorns that I’ve been hand turning at the shop. They are obviously too large to be worn by dolls but it’s a nice charm for the doll owners.

This week’s projects:
puki hat info (this has been the hardest thing ever to put together)
yo sized Totoro hat
Vamps t’s
katsu sweaters
puki and dollshi sized sweater patterns

Most likely way too much for one person to do but I honestly don’t have a lot of time left for the con.

These guys just went out today (finally). They will be missed.

I decided to make a small batch of these for katsu. The screen is still good and I’m going to use up the rest of the fabric. If you’re interested in snagging one before the con send me an email. They are sized to be fitted on an sd13 body so it should fit most.

old year

There are times when I photograph this boy, when he looks like he was just dragged out of a comfy bed and lovely dreams. This was one of those moments. Poor boy. I took a ton of photos but even though this one may be so wrong on a technical level it seemed to fit this post.

’09 ended rather frazzled for me and as ’10 begins, it’s finally catching up. I’m flippin’ beat.
